The multi-hyphenate artist, producer, DJ, and model has spent the past year quietly becoming one of Australian pop's most interesting problems: too club-ready for the indie crowd, too weird for the mainstream, too good to ignore. Following the viral momentum of ‘ICY (TAKE IT OFF)’ (with Sweatbaby) - nominated for Best Independent Electronic single at this year's AIR Awards -plus their follow-up collab ‘MUSIC 2 MY EARS’, ‘KITTY CAT’ arrives as the logical next step. It glides through hypnotic melodies with the easy confidence of someone who knows exactly what they want. Speaking on the single, Robert shares, “KITTY CAT is about the wild side, at this point in my life, I don’t need a person to be sensible and pay for things and tame me, I want someone who isn’t afraid to feel big things, and make my body PURR.”

Drawing on their community of collaborators to bring the track to life, Robert continues, “I wrote and produced this track, which was important to me as it’s such a big reference to ballroom beats and ballroom culture. I asked Rocky Stallone, who's also in House of Silky, to record some additional vocals for me; he’s one of the best MC’s, and I’m so stoked he’s on this track. I asked my longtime collaborator Keelan Mak to add some sparkle and finish to the prod, and then it was mixed by Wave Racer and mastered by Suture Mastering. This song is so fun to play live, especially with the dancers. I love bringing out my inner animal, and I love being a popstar!!!!”

A non-binary, Taiwanese/Australian artist whose practice draws equally on dance, modelling and theatre, Robert Baxter has never really been interested in playing it safe.
