Released at the very tail end of 2019, Wet Towel is the third single lifted from Poppongene's forthcoming debut EP 'Futures Unsure', set for release on Friday 3rd July 2020.  The seven track EP was created in collaboration with producer and multi-instrumentalist Tim Harvey (Jade ImagineGena Rose Bruce, Lisa Mitchell, Emma Louise). “Wet Towel” is a pop elegy for a relationship, frustrated but ultimately accepting.

Of the song and video, Poppongene says:
"Wet Towel describes the disconnect and parallel release at the end of a relationship. It’s a punchy and sparse song about the multitude of feelings loss brings. At its core, Wet Towel snapshots the frustration of not being able to help someone you love - and the bittersweet realisation that you’re not responsible for anyone other than yourself."

"The Wet Towel video was made in isolation, with my dear housemates, namely director Roxanne Halley. It tells a simple narrative of a woman wistfully washing, drying and folding her ex’s sheets and clothes, only to throw them straight into the trash. It’s a cheeky “fuck you” farewell veiled by the dreamy and airy atmosphere of a perfume campaign."

Of the video, director and DOP Roxie Halley says:
"Making this video in isolation meant I had to keep the concept really clean and simple. It didn’t take long to come up with a solid idea to bring the lyrics to life by focusing on getting beautiful shots that accentuate the music."

Today RVG share their highly-anticipated sophomore album Feral unto the world. Following their beloved 2017 debut A Quality of MercyRVG perform the tricky alchemy of combining rock’s urgency, punk’s anarchy, and pop’s empathy to create a record that feels vital.

Album available today to stream on all platforms and to own on vinyl here (LINK HERE)

Recorded at Head Gap studios with producer Victor Van Vugt (PJ Harvey, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Beth Orton), this is RVG’s first full-length release in three years and marks the beginning of a new era for the band.

To Romy Vager, RVG’s lead singer and lyricist, to feel feral is to feel outside of everything. Throughout this album that feeling of isolation is incited, but it never feels hopeless: these songs channel the raw energy of despair and frustration into melodies that often feel victorious, perhaps only because they so aptly supply a soundtrack to the end of days.

RVG live is Romy Vager, Reuben BloxhamMarc Nolte and Isabele Wallace.

Melbourne band RVG are excited to today share the new single and video 'Christian Neurosurgeon' from forthcoming album Feral.  Overnight the video premiered via Les Inrocks (FR), and has also received coverage in Mindies (ES) and Glam (PT).

The track is the second offering from RVG's sophomore album Feral and the accompanying video features the band donning scrubs and scalpels in a Twilight Zone-style spooker.

Romy Vager from RVG on Christian Neurosurgeon:

"Its a very simple song about cognitive dissonance. Its not just a song about bagging Christianity, its more about how we have to hold onto certain ideas to be able to survive, even if they're not true."

The video was directed by Caity Moloney and Tom Mannion of Lazy Susan Productions and features the band in a twisted, neuro nightmare! Romy Vager plays a brain that wouldn't die at the hands of drummer Marc Nolte and his faithful assistants, band members Reuban Bloxham and Isabele Wallace.

The filmmakers had this to say about making the video:

"The video was very fun to make for us and hopefully the band too - even though we put them in some pretty weird situations. We just embraced the song and went full surgical horror, using hand developed black and white 16mm film so the video feels almost as lo fi as the medical operation RVG are running in it. It was shot by our DOP Jesse Gohier-Fleet, who did an amazing job making every frame as spooky as possible. We've watched the video alot and still laugh every time so thanks to RVG for bringing the comedy gold!"

In some sad news, RVG's Australian support tour with the Pixies was unfortunately cut short after only two Melbourne dates, due to the unfolding COVID-19 situation.  These dates are due to be rescheduled, and the rest of RVG's touring plans are currently on hold.
