In just under a week Our Golden Friend will celebrate their very 1st year of business as a independent record label and managment collective. We're throwing a big ol' party at The Gasometer Hotel in our hometown of Melbourne on Thursday 1st December with a whole bunch of our super talented friends bringing the vibes. Today we are super excited to announce that enigmatic free spirit and all around incredible musical mind Jess Ribeiro will join the line up which already features Totally Mild, Gabriella Cohen, Jade Imagine, Ferla & Poppongene.

Much hyped DJ Kate 'Babyshakes' Dillon from Full Flower Moon Band will be bringing her unique and innovative headset DJ skills to The Gaso to play jams between the bands and into the night afterwards.

Our Golden Friend is incredibly excited to announce the newest members of our little label family Sydney's Body Type. We are stoked to share the news that we will release a very special limited edition 7" vinyl featuring their very first single 'Ludlow' and brand new track '264' which the band have shared with the world for the very first time today.

Body Type are Sophie, Annabel, Cecil and Georgia - four girls from Sydney (via Perth and Kiama) who started playing music together a little over six months ago. Writing songs that range thematically from navigating painful heartbreak to the banality of life in a mouldy Redfern terrace, the foursome are brand new to the music game - they performed live for the very first time supporting Gabriella Cohen in September 2016, and have since been invited to play with international acts Cate Le Bon and The Coathangers. 

Body Type's debut 7" Ludlow / 264 is available for pre-order via bandcamp today right here. The band are playing a swag of shows around Sydney and will be announcing a very special Melbourne 7" launch show in the coming weeks so, stay tuned for that. We are so very excited to be working with this beautiful band right at the very beginnings of their career, what a blessing.

Hi, nearly one year ago we introduced ourselves as Our Golden Friend, a new independent record label from Melbourne, Australia. Time really does fly when you're having fun and as it turns out a full year has nearly passed us by, we've released some truly great music form some really amazing artists and have expanded our operations from being just a record label to also now becoming a management company!

So, to celebrate one full year since Our Golden Friend became a label, as well as the birth of our newly formed management roster we have decided to throw a party at one of our favourite Melbourne music venues The Gasometer on Thursday 1st December.

Come and celebrate the very first day of summer under the open roof at The Gaso (weather permitting of course, this is Melbourne people!) with us and a supreme line-up of the incredible artists that we are blessed to work with. There will be live sets from TOTALLY MILD, GABRIELLA COHEN, JADE IMAGINE, FERLA, POPPONGENE and 808s & GREATEST HITS. FERLA Shares 'I Can't Let You Down' Video + Playing BIGSOUND Next Week!

This is our friend FERLA (perhaps you already know him as Giuliano Ferla former frontman of Twin Beasts / The Toot Toot Toots), he joined our little label family a few weeks ago and today he shares his brand new video clip for current single 'I Can't Let You Down' with the world. The clip is inspired by an episode of Hey Hey It's Saturday in 1992 and was actually shot for a pilot of a new TV show set in 2016.

Everybody meet FERLA, or perhaps you might already know him as Giuliano Ferla, a friendly face around the Melbourne music scene and former frontman of Twin Beasts (previously The Toot Toot Toots). FERLA joins our little label family which currently includes jade imagine, POPPONGENE & 808s & Greatest Hits.

Introducing JADE IMAGINE - Signs To Our Golden Friend

Melbourne independent record label Our Golden Friend are incredibly excited to introduce you to our third label signing and newest member of the Our Golden Friend family: jade imagine. 

jade imagine is the brand new musical project of Melbourne based musician Jade McInally. Jade has been kicking around the Melbourne music scene for a bit, first in her own band TANTRUMS. More recently Jade was a touring member of Melbourne outfit Teeth & Tongue and plays bass in Jess Riberio's live band. 

Jade recently left Teeth & Tongue to focus on her own music and is incredibly excited to share the very first taste of her new music with single 'Stay Awake' premiering on Fasterlouder today. 'Stay Awake' also had a cheeky little worldwide radio premiere last night with Fee B Squared during her Maps program on Melbourne community radio station 3RRR.

POPPONGENE Shares New Video For 'Do It Girl'

A few weeks ago we were very excited to introduce you to the newest member of the little Our Golden Friend label family POPPONGENE. Today the beautiful babe from the hills of Belgrave Sophie Treloaraka POPPONGENE has some special things to share with the world. The first, comes in the form of a brand new music video for her very first single 'Do It Girl'. 

Produced by incredibly talented visual collaborator and fellow Belgrave local Tobias Willis the video for 'Do It Girl' takes viewers to the hills and rainforests of Belgrave which form the creative inspiration for POPPONGENE's dreamy psychedelic soundscapes. Of the video Willis says "It's a detailed study on how light through autumn leaves affects the human psyche."

In the second instalment of exciting news from POPPONGENE, she will debut her live show brought together by a full 5 piece band for the very first time this week. POPPONGENE and pals are excited to announce their Mini Residency at The Tote in Melbourne for this Wednesday 22nd June and the following Wednesday 29th June.

POP 'N' PALS will be joined by an incredible array of Melbourne based talent in support of her very first live performances. This Wednesday will see Full Flower Moon Band (Babyshake solo set), Waterfall Person, & Field Maps filling support duties. Next Wednesday 29th of June will feature Leah Senior, Dannika & Chips Calipso.

It's been a little while since we have heard from our old mate 808s & Greatest Hits. He was the very first signing to Our Golden Friend when we launched into the world of independent record labels in December last year and today he returns to premiere his new single 'Nice 'N' Easy' via Tone Deaf.

'Nice 'N’ Easy' is the new single lifted from the forthcoming 808s and Greatest Hits EP which will be released in August/September 2016 via Melbourne indie label Our Golden Friend. Of the track the mind behind 808s Skube Burnell says "It's literally all about just doing what you want to do, and well, I guess it also talks about the opposite of that. It was my attempt at writing a Beach Boys inspired song and then it didn’t end up like that.” The track was once again mixed by recent collaborators Stu MacKenzie (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard) and mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control).

808s and Greatest Hits is the bedroom recording project of Melbourne based multi-instrumentalist Skube Burnell (band member of Chips Calipso & Poppongene). As 808s and Greatest Hits Burnell released his debut album Featuring A. Fantastic Reprise independently via bandcamp in 2014. In December 2015 Burnell released a two-track 7" featuring down-tempo pseudo-pop songs ‘New Bounce’ and ‘House of Love’ mixed by Stu MacKenzie (King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard) and mastered by Mikey Young (Eddy Current Suppression Ring, Total Control). 2016/2017 will see 808s and Greatest Hits release his follow up album as well as assembling a live band to recreate his bedroom recordings for the live stage for the very first time.
